Check out this footage of a surfer nearly being swallowed by a pod of humpback whales feeding off the coast of Santa Cruz, California.
At first I thought, “This has got to be a hoax!” Film crews spend weeks trying to get footage like this.
But it turns out the humpbacks are venturing closer and closer to shore in pursuit of shoals of anchovies driven coastward by weather patterns. This isn’t the only such incident recorded.
It goes to show that the most amazing things occur when you least expect them, at home or on the road.
